Actor Leonardo DiCaprio was criticized by some viewers for using a private plane to escape the wildfires in Los Angeles (USA). In response, he announced a donation of 1 million USD to support the victims.

The wildfire broke out on January 7 and is recorded as the largest wildfire in the history of Los Angeles. The death toll from the wildfire reached 25 people, hundreds of thousands of people were evacuated, and many properties were destroyed.

Million-dollar mansions of stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Hanks, Paris Hilton, Chris Pratt… in Los Angeles were burned down. Entertainment events were postponed or canceled. A sad atmosphere covered Hollywood.

Leonardo DiCaprio has been a big draw in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires. The Titanic actor is said to have used his private jet to escape the blaze. However, his actions have drawn mixed reactions.

However, his action of using a private plane to escape Los Angeles was condemned by a part of the audience. According to environmental impact analysis, jet planes emit 37 times more carbon emissions than commercial aircraft. Therefore, many opinions criticized the actor.

However, many other opinions argued in defense of Leonardo DiCaprio. They said that ensuring safety should be a priority in an emergency.

This is not the first time Leonardo DiCaprio has been criticised for using a private jet. He has previously attended climate summits by private jet, sparking similar controversies.

Leonardo DiCaprio has yet to comment on the criticism directed at him. The actor recently announced a $1 million donation to support victims of the wildfires.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the relief money will go to the Los Angeles Fire Foundation and several other organizations.

On his personal page, Leonardo DiCaprio wrote: “The wildfires in Los Angeles are devastating our city. I am pledging $1 million, through a partnership with Rewild’s Rapid Response Program, to support the urgent needs and recovery efforts of the victims of the wildfires.”
