Kimberly Burch, the fiancée of rocker Taime Downe, fell overboard from a cruise ship on March 2 ‘after a heated argument’.

The tragedy occurred on the first night of a Royal Caribbean 80s-themed cruise departing from Miami. According to TMZ , the fiancee of the lead singer of rock band Faster Pussycat died after falling overboard, and the body of Kimberly Burch, 56, has not yet been found.

The incident occurred about 20 miles from Freeport, Bahamas, a spokesman for the US Coast Guard said. The agency assisted the Royal Bahamas Defense Force in the search for Kimberly.

Kimberly Burch’s mother, Carnell Burch, told TMZ that Taime Downe called her with the bad news on March 3. Carnell said Kimberly fell off the train after an argument with her fiancé, although it’s unclear whether she jumped or accidentally fell. Kimberly’s mother believes her daughter did not harm herself.

In an obituary posted on Facebook on March 4, the family wrote that Kimberly Burch will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her, and asked everyone to pray for the family to overcome this heartbreaking tragedy.

“Our crew immediately began search and rescue efforts, are working with local authorities and are supporting the family during this difficult time,” a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said.

A search for the victim began after she fell off the ship at 11 p.m. on March 2, a ship source confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter . The ship then continued its journey as planned while the US Coast Guard took over the search.

A passenger said: “The incident happened at around 11pm. That night the band Squeeze was playing. The loudspeaker said that someone had fallen off the ship so the ship would stop and turn around to try to locate the person. The ship stopped for a few hours. Lifeboats were deployed with floodlights to illuminate the surrounding area. Another cruise ship nearby also turned on its floodlights to search.”

Another passenger wrote on X about a woman who “jumped” from an eighth-floor balcony after an argument with her partner. “This is our 15th cruise and the first time we’ve seen this,” the passenger wrote.

In the mid-1990s, Taime formed the band The Newlydeads, where he served as a songwriter and producer. Taime Downe and Kimberly Burch are said to have been together for about 6-7 years. Taime Downe recently posted a romantic Valentine’s Day photo with his fiancée on February 14.
